Precepting with Rooted
Meet Your Preceptor
Alysha has had the joy of working in Mental Health for 10 years and during that time she has worked in several roles and environments. She brings experience from working inpatient consult liaison pediatric psychiatry, inpatient geriatric psychiatry, as an adjunct professor in RN and PMHNP programs, and now she owns Rooted Psychiatry and Wellness. She provides holistic and western medicine focused treatment plans for primarily depression, anxiety and ADHD. She sees patients 4 and up! Alysha enjoys working with students and has 4 years of experience training medical, PA, and PMHNP students.
What is included in preceptorship with Rooted?
Child, Adolescent, and Adult Hours
You will see patients alongside a supportive preceptor with lots of time to ask questions and debrief cases. Alysha sees patients 4+ with about 50% of her patients being under 18 and the other half being adults.
Relationship
Alysha stays in contact with all of her students and often shares jobs that she hears about and is available to keep in touch for help in the new grad transition.
Attend Lift Off Membership Calls
This includes meetings every other week with other PMHNPs reviewing difficult cases and clinical questions. You will have access to this during your rotation and you may continue after your rotation if you like as well (fees apply if continuing after). More information on this group is here.
Exposure to Entrepreneurship
In addition to clinical skills, Alysha is open and willing to discuss practice ownership during your rotation with her. Some of her past students have gone on to start practices of their own by joining her full private practice mentorship program.
Pharma Lectures and Lunches
Alysha makes it a priority for her students to be aware of medications that have new indications and technologies. For this reason, she books in-office lunches where medical science liaisons and representatives from pharmaceutical companies come and share about the medications their companies produce as well as what they are indicated for and tips and trick of getting newer therapies approved by insurance.
