How I got financial and legal advice for my PMHNP Private Practice

Launching a private practice can be scary, especially when you begin considering the financial and legal complexities involved. When I first started, these were two major hurdles I had to overcome. Today, I want to share some insights on how I found the right professionals to guide me through the process.

Financial planning was a top priority for me. I knew I needed expert advice to ensure I was making the right financial decisions. I recommend finding an accountant, tax preparer, and financial advisor who specialize in working with healthcare providers. These professionals can help you understand your financial situation, plan your budget, and make informed decisions about spending. I sought tax and accounting advice early on, even before filing for incorporation, to ensure my financial foundation was solid. After being open for a while I met a financial planner and worked with them and this was very helpful as well.

Legal considerations were another crucial aspect of setting up my practice. I spoke with my malpractice insurance provider to switch from a personal to a business plan. This step is essential to protect your practice and personal assets. Next, I consulted with a lawyer who specialized in healthcare law, particularly NP law in my state. This was invaluable in navigating the legal requirements and regulations specific to my practice.
